Carol Service Spreadsheets

Sinden.org maintains lists of the carols sung at two famous carol services. These lists are kept in the form of spreadsheets so that the carols may be easily compared from year to year.

The two services for which the spreadsheets are kept are the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College, Cambridge, and the Service for Advent with Carols from St. John's College, Cambridge.

I am frequently asked where I can find links to the Google spreadsheets that Sinden.org maintains for carol services. This webpage, Sinden.org/carols, may serve as an easy bookmark for both.

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College, Cambridge

This service is held annually on Christmas Eve in the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge, England. It is broadcast live on the BBC, and in the United States through Minnesota Public Radio.

The Sinden.org spreadsheet is found here: King's College Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols spreadsheet

This sheet runs in chronological order, with the most recent service being at the bottom. The legend for the colors and symbols in the spreadsheet may be found at the bottom.

Most of this information is freely available in the service booklets archived on this King's College webpage about the service. I am always interested in information about other years' services!

A Service for Advent with Carols from St. John's College, Cambridge

This service is held on the first Sunday of Advent and the Saturday before in the Chapel of St. John's College, Cambridge (in some years it is held the week before Advent Sunday). In recent years the Sunday service has been broadcast live by BBC Radio 3.

The Sinden.org spreadsheet is found here: St. John's Advent Carol Service spreadsheet

This sheet runs in reverse chronological order with the most recent service at the top. The legend for the colors in the spreadsheet may be found at the bottom.
