LBW 23. The stanzas from the LBW version which are included are 1, 3, 4, the first half of 5, and a modified second half of 6.

The second half of LBW stanza 6 begins: "[And blessed hope to those] Who love the Lord's appearing". This has been changed to "All hail the Lord's appearing!".

Phrases are now contained on a single system of music, rather than being arbitrarily carried to the next line due to barline placement.

This graphical change is odd given that the poetry of the sixth stanza was hammered into a new combined stanza.

240 - Light One Candle to Watch for Messiah

The text and tune are unchanged.

Layout in the pew edition is improved by removing the accompaniment. The hymn is now much more readable (and much less visually intimidating) to the congregant.

239 - Hark, the Glad Sound

LBW 35.

The text remains unchanged.

The previous 6-4 time signature has been reinterpreted as a more legible 3-4.

Quite apart from the hymn itself, one notices the distinctive choice of listing authorship information at the bottom of the page where the hymn first appears, not at the end of the hymn (on the facing page). A quick glance shows that this practice is continued throughout.
